![]() I have not read any major complaints about either platform from teachers and feel very confident recommending them. But and seem to be the most popular, and are user-friendly. There is a free version of both platforms, but the $12/year plan is well worth it, because that’s what enables all the really valuable time-saving features like re-using lesson plans from year to year.Īre there other online lesson planning platforms out there which are good? Yes. So if you invest time in setting up your planbook this year, you’re going to have exponentially less work to do in future years when it’s time to plan–all you’ll have to do is adapt things for your current group of students. What I love about both and is that you can insert CCSS or other standards through a dropdown menu, and share lesson plans with team members or your admin digitally. Most importantly, you can re-use the same lesson documentation from year to year. I don’t know of any compelling reason to pick one over the other (though if you do, please let me know in the comments!) ![]() My personal recommendation and preference is to use a combination of digital and paper planning as follows: 1) Use or for formal lesson plan documentationĭespite the confusingly similar names, these are two completely separate companies/platforms. I have heard amazing things about both from teachers, and both seem to offer the same features. There will always be new and maybe even better options out there, but you can drive yourself crazy if you spend too much time worrying about that. If you already have a planner you love, stick with it! Don’t get caught up in FOMO (fear of missing out) and waste hours researching other options when you’ve already found a good system. The most important thing to remember is that every teacher’s needs are different: there is no one perfect planner that is right for every person. This post is not sponsored and is my completely unbiased opinion, based upon my own research and the experiences of hundreds of teachers I’ve discussed this with in The 40 Hour Teacher Workweek Club and other Facebook groups. The reviewer also praises how believable the dilemmas Brady goes through are. Writing for the Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books, Stevenson comments on "the subtle layers" that are present in the story, such as the fear the poorer families feel, of being ousted from their lands by the newly rich ones. The Booklist praised Cummings' skillful writing of the plot and characters, calling Brady's decision to tell the truth about his friends' actions "both anguished and well reasoned, making for a realistic conclusion." The critic also praises the author's usage of Maryland's eastern heritage in the building of the characters. ![]() ![]() The book received generally positive reviews, and was called a "well-written, sometimes gripping story" and a "strong effort" by Kirkus Reviews. They recover the kayak which was still sunken in the water, and which clearly shows the holes drilled in the hull. In the final section of the book, Brady does what he believes is the right thing, and tells his father everything. The situation prompts Brady to reflect on the death of his younger sister, who died suddenly at four months old seven years earlier. The central section of the book then consists of Brady confronting his friends, feeling partly responsible, hiding the evidence, deliberating over the correct course of action, and generally suffering debilitating, internal, moral conflict. The sabotage involved a method that Brady thought up himself, though never intended to carry out: drilling holes in the kayak's bottom and plugging them with water-soluble filler. Brady soon discovers evidence that the kayak had been sabotaged by his two friends, JT and Digger. DiAngelo reveals to Brady that she is pregnant. DiAngelo blames his wife for their son's death and they separate Mrs. DiAngelo and her three-year-old son, who Brady previously babysat for, that were going out on the kayak, which overturns and leads to the death of the boy.īrady assuages his grief by working for the mourning DiAngelo family on their property. A wealthy family called the DiAngelos buys the property Brady and his friends are used to enjoying near the water. Red Kayak is written from the point of view of a thirteen-year-old boy named Brady Parks who is part of a poor crab-fishing family on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Red Kayak is the first in a series of three books, the sequel being The Journey Back. It was first published in 2004 and tells the story of a teenager who feels partially responsible for the death of a three-year-old, and the moral dilemma of whether to tell others about the truth he uncovers about the baby's death. Game of the Year Edition Content The Left 4 Dead (Game of the Year Edition) simply bundles together the original game with the Survival Pack downloadable content (DLC) that was released last month. This is a game that comes to life when you play with at least one other human player, and it's even better if there are four humans in each game. Bots lack the dynamic play, the interaction and the interplay, and the social aspect of co-op play. You have two options to buy the Puma: pre-assembled, or the RTF (Ready to fly). Among them is the great team at Pro Flight Trainer. Only a few small companies and high end specialty companies have taken up the challenge of developing and marketing helicopter specific flight controls for flight simulators. The lack of mass production drives up the cost of helicopter specific systems. Because there are so few helicopter flight sim enthusiasts, and so few dedicated helicopter flight sims, all of the major flight sim control makers have completely ignored the helicopter market. It doesn’t change the taste of the food, but it’s not really the same experience.įlight controls specifically for helicopters are rare, and like that fancy 5-star restaurant dinner, they are usually very expensive. Using a common set of airplane based simulator flight controls is kind of like eating a delicious dinner at a 5-star restaurant out in the parking lot from a Styrofoam container with a plastic spork. ![]() The ones who do accept the challenge of simulated rotorcraft flight often have to do their best to fly a simulated helicopter with a set of controls designed for a fixed wing aircraft. Most home flight simmers who try helicopters get frustrated very quickly with the experience and don’t allow their mouse to get anywhere near the helicopter selection of their chosen simulator as a result. Helicopter flight simulator enthusiasts are a rare breed among rare breeds.
